Around the world in a day

When Work Readiness Programme (WRP) students at Al Ain Women's College (AAWC)in UAE  took on a project to host an International Village on campus, it proved to be a fun experience as well as an opportunity to put into practice the skills they had learned over the months.

Multinational event

More than 200 students participated in the event, which showcased the following countries: Canada, the USA, Australia, China, the UAE, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Oman, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Ethiopia, India, Algeria, Morocco, Thailand, Turkey, Italy, France, Greece, UK, Mexico and Korea.

Students started working on the project in October. "Each exhibit focused on the folklore of each country as well as traditional dress, food, music, legends and holidays."

The International Village was more than just an extracurricular event for WRP students.

"In our programme students are learning lots of different skills such as teamwork, time management, organisational skills and conflict resolution. With this project they are able to apply the theory they have learned to a real-life situation."

"Our year-and-a-half programme does not have majors. It is for adult students who want to get a job and [they] therefore acquire different skills to help them achieve this, such as Arabic, computer skills, basic maths and work skills."

They find jobs as secretaries, in banking, hospitals, factories and schools. "It's a door opener to go into any field they like."

She added that the students ranged between the ages of 18 and 35 and although many of them were forced to leave high school because of marriage or health reasons, they are now extremely motivated to further their education.

Motivated to succeed

"We learned about the many sports the country has, the kinds of foods they eat, agriculture, the population; and looked at maps of the country. It's amazing how large Australia is and the amount of agricultural land, forests and animals they have," Jameela said.

Noora Suhail Al Ameri is an unemployed mother of three who was unable to finish high school. She joined the WRP programme because she had difficulty finding a job.

"The most important skill we learnt was cooperation. Meera is unmarried and is in her last year at high school; in addition she is doing the WRP programme. She wants to pursue a bachelor of arts degree. "Unfortunately there are not many options for women but I would like to study business."

Sharpen your language skills

"We encourage people to listen to the radio to improve their English," says Khan. "Since most of us are either in taxis or driving to work most of the time, listening to the radio will improve your vocabulary," he says. Eton also offers CDs which you can listen to while driving.

The other trick is to read a lot, magazines, newspapers, "whatever you can get your hands on."

Take advantage of all extra time in early morning

Age and condition Average amount of sleep per day

Newborn up to 18 hours
1–12 months 14–18 hours
1–3 years 12–15 hours
3–5 years 11–13 hours
5–12 years 9–11 hours
Adolescents 9-10 hours
Adults, 7–8 (+) hours
including elderly
Pregnant women 8 (+) hours

We should try to wake up at 4 am .

I enjoy jogging , breathing fresh air, and praying or donating water to the Buddha in the early morning .After that,I uaually read some newspapers online .

Some people like to use that time on preparing my kids’ lunches, on planning for the rest of the day , on exercising or meditating, writing and on reading. By the time 6:30 rolls around, I’ve done many important things more than many people do the entire day.

Early sleeping is like the saving money in the bank. If you sleep early ,you can get up early ,get new energy and extra times and make more money .

1.Have light snack before bed i.e,warm glass of milk which contain tryptophan and it acts as a natural sleep inducer

2.Take a hot bath 90 minutes before bedtime

3.Make sure your bed and bedroom are quiet and comfortable
If light bothers you, wear a slumber mask. If noise bothers you, wear earplugs

4.Exercise at least 4 hours before bedtime

Job Opportunities

You can also find out the job search at http://www.shangri-la.com/en/corporate/careers/jobsearch , and you need to know what kind of job vacancies are avaaliable and see the requriements for interviews .

Most of the Myanmar staffs came here to Trader Hotel Dubai , first through Trader yangon which is 4 stars hotel amongs the Shangri-La hotels Group . Mostly ,Myanmar staffs are not good in Englsih , expecially pronounciation ,even they got some degree .

There are new under-constructing Shangri-La hotels in UK , Canada , US , China , India and so on . You can also find the job vacancies .This is the first step. Not only you , there are too many nationalities want to apply and had applied to Shangri-La Hotels around the globe .

As for me , I find difficults to get the hotel job through job search agent or company , before in Myanmar . They ask me the Hotel Experience 2 years . But I didn't have any experience . Fortunately , I attended one of the computer seminer which explained about career oppotunities and scholarship for hotel certificate at Hotel School , in ICT park, Myanmar .

Then I got interview , got the training with scholarship and got job in Thingaha Hotel ,Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar , for 1 and half years .

Fortunately , I read the news about job oppotunity in Dubai at Myanmar Time Newspaper . I didn't believe that they will select me to come here because there are many people who working at 5 stars hotel and had more experiences than me who worked at nearly 4 stars hotels in Nay Pyi Taw .

I got very difficult to get this job , going to the Intenet Cafe and asking what should I do in Nay Pyi Taw.Some of my colleges and some managers said me that I was like a crazy guy because I use Internet as much as I have time but I was still silent and keep on surfing and emailing .

I know that oppotinities folow the people who use Intenet daily , very good in Englsih language and send at least 4 emails daily according to the one of the reserch at Journal .I do this guide line daily if possible . If you also follow this guide line fully 100% , we will surely get 100% oppotunities and the jobs what we want , right now .

Manage your time

One key tool that can help you to get organised is a diary. Ideally, you should have one where you can see both months and weeks. You need to get into the habit of writing down all your activities. If you have an electronic organiser or computer, then set aside some time to learn how to use them fully.

Your diary can help with coursework and revision. This will help you to feel in control and avoid last minute panics.

Let's say that you must revise for my biology exam. It's much plan your time into specific tasks ,breaking down a big piece of work into smaller. You can then use your weekly diary or schedule to plan when you are going to fit those tasks in , whcih blocks of time to spend on an activity.

Use alarm clock to time yourself. This will help you to concentrate as you won't be continually clock watching. It's a good idea if you make a regular time to look at your week ahead and plan your schedule.

It's important to learn to differentiate between urgent goals and important goals. For example, doing your GCSEs is an important long-term goal, but getting your maths homework in tomorrow is an urgent short-term goal.

People get heigher as their country get growths

How to grow taller ?

The basic rule of the thumb formula for human height may be summarized as:
(Genetics + Hormones + Nutrition) - Stress

The growth and development of the body usually happens at the average age of 16 years for girls and 18 years for boys. Getting proper sleep is vital for the growth hormones to perform its function effectively. Human growth hormone (HGH) is a substance released by a pea like structure deep inside the brain just behind the eyes. This substance is mostly released during the first couple of hours of sleep and after exercise. Its function is to stimulate growth in human body up until the end of puberty. There is no medication that can make you enhance height after puberty. Proper and effective breathing brings sufficient oxygen into your body to stimulate growth. Only deep breathing is effective breathing.

There seems to be a correlation between economic growth and human height. Asian populations were once thought to be inherently shorter; though it now seems that the average height of China and other Asian countries have improved significantly. The human growth responds to better health care facilities and better nutritional diet.

According to the rule of the thumb the ideal weight of Men can be calculated as under: For the first 5 feet the weight should be 106 pounds. And for each additional inch add 6 pounds. The ideal weight of Women can be calculated as under:
For the first 5 feet the weight should be 100 pounds. And for each additional inch add 5 pounds.

What kind of a diet can help increase my height?

A nutritious diet that includes fruits and vegetables, dairy, cereals, meat, and plenty of water will aid the natural process for enhancing height.

Some exercises that may also be helpful for the human growth factor include:
1. Kicking
2. Jumping
3. Cycling
4. Swimming
5. Jumping Rope
6. Sprints

Make happier, smarter, stronger, lighter, healthier and more productive.

How can our brain improve memories?

A study by the University of Illinois recently showed that memory can be increased by as much as 50% in just 6 months, due to increased blood flow to the brain. Just about every major disease affecting the nation today could be significantly reduced with daily walking, including some forms of cancer and Type II diabetes.

At the end of the day an employee has burned between 800-1400 calories, stimulated their lymphatic system to ward off disease and earned a paycheck while using it.

Daily walking has been shown to assist in combating stress and improving a worker's overall mood. So encourage your staff to get back to work and start walking. It will make employees happier, smarter, stronger, lighter, healthier and more productive.

The Bulletproof name remembering strategy

First, pay attention to the person saying their name. Do not look around, do not think about your dinner plans. Do look at them directly for at least 3 seconds. I typically handshake for 3 seconds while making eye contact. Listen to the name and imagine it written in large bright letters around their head. Keep this image in your mind for 3 to 15 seconds, depending on your power of concentration. While seeing the image, say the name to yourself in their voice three times. With your free hand write the name on oyour hip or in the air .The key is to make the imaginary writing big and bright.

Imagine it before going to sleep the same day when you first created it. Then, repeat it after a few days and then the next week. Imagine it after a month. You can do it again after 6 months and I think that you’re done then - you will remember it for long time .
